Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) offers a four-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture program. Below are the admission requirements and eligibility criteria for the 2025 academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

  • Academic Stream (HSC/CBSE/Equivalent): Candidates must have studied and passed Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology (PCBZ) in their 10+2 examinations.
  • Vocational Stream: Candidates who passed HSC under the vocational stream and studied Biology and Agricultural Practices (theory and practical) are eligible to apply.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

  • Open Competition (OC): 55% aggregate in the required subjects.
  • Backward Class (BC) and Backward Class Muslim (BCM): 50% aggregate.
  • Most Backward Class (MBC) & Denotified Communities (DNC): 45% aggregate.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyars (SCA), and Scheduled Tribe (ST): A pass in the qualifying examination with the required subjects.

Age Limit

  • Candidates should not have completed 21 years of age as on July 1 of the admission year.
  • For SC, SCA, and ST candidates, there is no age limit.
  • Differently-abled candidates are eligible for age relaxation of up to five years.

Number of Attempts

  • SC/SCA/ST: Maximum of three attempts to pass the qualifying examination.
  • All Other Communities: Maximum of two attempts.

Admission Process

For Tamil Nadu Native Candidates

  • Admissions are based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2).
  • There is no entrance examination.
  • Candidates must apply through the official TNAU website once the application portal is activated post the board exam results.

For Candidates from Other States

  • Admission is through the All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
  • Candidates must apply through the ICAR website.

Application Timeline

  • The online application portal typically opens after the announcement of the 10+2 board examination results.
